In the CHINGMU "Digital Dream" Special Competition of the 20th China Creative Challenges Contest, the 3D animated short film track featured a 48-hour extreme creation format, requiring teams to fully realize their creative vision, motion capture, and animation within a remarkably short timeframe. The national first prize-winning work, "The Sands of Time Are Running Out," was born from this challenge — as the countdown to City B's destruction from City A dwindles to its final minute, the protagonist charges forward resolutely, wielding a lightning spear.
Throughout production, CHINGMU's optical motion capture system precisely recorded key combat movements, endowing the characters with fluid and dynamic performances, allowing the intense final battle to be efficiently completed within the pressing deadline. The film employs a grand sci-fi dichotomy to explore the theme that "true strength lies not in conquest and slaughter, but in holding fast to kindness in the face of temptation," transforming motion capture technology from mere motion reproduction into a narrative language conveying restraint and courage.
