In the CHINGMU "Digital Dream" Special Competition of the 20th China Creative Challenges Contest, the national first prize-winning work in the AI Storyboard Creation category, "Parallel Universe," tells the story of Xiao Bei, an astronomy enthusiast devoted to the study of celestial phenomena and parallel universe theory. Her unconventional views left her isolated and lonely for years, misunderstood by those around her. In a twist of fate, an alien astronaut named Xiao Bei, on her return voyage, accidentally falls through a dimensional rift and lands in Earth's timeline. The coexistence of two Xiao Beis in the same space-time triggers chaos. Using her expertise in theoretical deduction, she deciphers the resonance code, helps the alien visitor return to her rightful dimension, and resolves the entangled paradox.
From a technical standpoint, the work was created using a combination of live-action filming and real-time virtual production background compositing. The actors performed key scenes—such as the face-off between the two Xiao Beis and the deciphering sequence—in front of a green screen, while the film's grand sci-fi virtual environments were generated and composited in real time through virtual production technology. With virtual shooting technical support provided by CHINGMU, the team was able to focus its creative energy on building the narrative atmosphere of intersecting parallel universes and directing the emotional interplay of dual characters sharing the same frame, resulting in a work brimming with sci-fi imagination.
