To improve students’ practical capabilities and innovative awareness, boost disciplinary construction, and make full preparations for the National 3D Competition 16th‑Anniversary Elite League (2023‑2024) Special Contest for Virtual Scene Creation and Virtual Simulation, CHINGMU was invited by the School of Animation and Digital Arts, Communication University of China. On December 1 and 8 respectively, CHINGMU delivered two informative motion‑capture training sessions for students from the Department of New Media Art. The sessions consolidated students’ theoretical knowledge, kept them updated on industry trends, empowered disciplinary development, and cultivated high‑caliber talents with solid theories, strong practical skills and innovative mindsets.

The training covered three core modules: motion‑capture equipment setup, virtual camera operation, and workflows for motion‑capture software as well as Unreal Engine (UE). The instructor gave detailed explanations and live demonstrations, touching on equipment configuration details, marker‑point quantity application, camera principles and operation, motion‑capture data processing, equipment maintenance and animation data recording. Participants gained in‑depth understanding of the functions, features, advantages and applicable scenarios of each component, broadened their knowledge and built new learning frameworks.

During the training, students listened attentively and took an active part in hands‑on practice. They raised questions about technical challenges and confusing points. The CHINGMU technical instructor gave accurate, systematic replies to common questions and provided one‑on‑one guidance for individual queries. This ensured students fully grasped technical principles and practical skills to facilitate their follow‑up study and research.

Students commented that they benefited enormously from the training. The interactive teaching deepened their understanding and mastery of motion‑capture technology. They learned through communication and grew via hands‑on exercises, making it a valuable experience for improving professional literacy and comprehensive competence.

Throughout the two‑day training, faculty from the School of Animation and Digital Arts also briefed students on the entry requirements, contest content and procedures of the National 3D Competition 16th‑Anniversary Elite League (2023‑2024) Special Contest for Virtual Scene Creation and Virtual Simulation. Students were encouraged to sign up for the competition to sharpen their professional skills, improve animation output quality, produce high‑grade works and achieve outstanding results.

The Digital Media Program at Communication University of China is among the first‑batch national first‑class undergraduate program construction sites. It also hosts the secretariat of the Teaching Steering Committee for Digital Media and Animation Majors under the Ministry of Education and receives key institutional support. This training has helped enhance students’ professional competence and supported the school’s pursuit of first‑class discipline development.

CHINGMU keeps deepening university‑enterprise cooperation and advancing industry‑university‑research integration. Up to now, CHINGMU has established partnerships with nearly 40 domestic universities including Tongji University, Xi’an Jiaotong University, Shanghai Normal University, Communication University of China and Xidian University.
