The Amazing Race is a reality‑show franchise launched by CBS (USA) in 2001. It follows teams of two contestants competing in a month‑long race across the globe. Each season features 11 or 12 two‑person teams made up of family members, couples, colleagues or friends. Contestants embark on an unforgettable world tour, taking in spectacular foreign scenery and unique local cultures while completing challenges testing their intelligence and physical strength. Teams compete across 11‑13 legs of the race with gradual eliminations until only three remain. The first team to cross the finish‑line wins the championship and a USD 1‑million prize.

Recently, the CHINGMU Vision base on the Shanghai University campus in Jing’an District hosted filming for the Israeli edition of The Amazing Race. The competition took place in the Space Lab on the third‑floor of CHINGMU Vision, where teams took part in large‑scale free‑roam VR games.

Game Rules Five teams of contestants completed two VR challenges. In each round, one team‑member wore the VR headset to give commands, while the other teammate moved in the physical space without a headset.

Game Content The first challenge was Stellar Core, a shooting game developed by Miying Technology, which contestants had to finish within a set time limit; overtime resulted in failure. Teams that successfully cleared Stellar Core moved on to the second VR shooting game, Rush Hour, a zombie‑themed title produced by ifgames Studio. While fighting waves of zombies, players could pick‑up various weapons on‑site including katana swords, baseball bats, pistols and submachine guns. Contestants needed to survive for the required duration to win.

Supported by robust spatial‑positioning technology, CHINGMU Vision delivered immersive, near‑real‑world free‑roam environments for both VR titles. Contestants experienced the tense competitive atmosphere of the race alongside the deep immersion of VR, greatly heightening on‑site excitement. After calm, focused battles, victorious teams celebrated their success throughout the lab, with joy and exhilaration clearly visible.
