"The greatest advantage ofCHINGMU's use of optical motion capture technology for 'Passionate' is its ultra-high precision in real-time capture, enhancing overall film production efficiency and quality, shortening movie production cycles, and conserving manpower costs. It presents character movements more vividly and naturally, offering viewers a more fluid, real cinematic experience.
In 'Passionate', scenes with cheering full-house audiences are prominently featured.CHINGMU's optical motion capture cameras record real human actions – waving arms, glowing sticks, body twists – and convert them into data. Proprietary software algorithms interpret these data to drive predefined 3D character models, or 'audience members'. Using crowd animation, individual cheering 'audience' characters are embedded into the scene, culminating in high-definition, smooth footage of a full-house 'audience' enthusiastically waving glow sticks.
Through high-precision motion capture of a single performer's performance, dimensions of cheering in the audience stand are accurately recreated. This technology carries high precision, low latency, and high robustness, further enhancing the film’s realism and precision.
This project is a combination of digital virtual human technology and motion capture technology, jointly developed by Shanghai Wave Culture Media and the students and teachers of the Shanghai Film Art Academy Digital Entertainment Center, with CHINGMU providing motion capture system services and technical support. This deep integration of industry and academia effectively nurtures the currently most scarce new technology talent in the market, contributing to the Shanghai Film Art Academy's curriculum being closer to industry demands. As the film industry continues to evolve, the combination of character modeling and motion capture technology has become one of the indispensable tools in media production."
